Thomas Tantrum and the Daisy Riots provided last night’s entertainment. Busting moves and creating beats that were rather spot on! Supporting Thomas Tantrum were the boys from the North West with their super tight – spray on clothing, forward front flop crops and arm muscles all on show!
The lads started as they were to go on. Bopping around the stage and creating some pleasantries for my ears to relish. Counting Walls and there released single 'Do you feel alone' stood out for me. Another new band to keep your eyes and ears open for. Paddington and Ida Maria fans will the chance to see them support in their up and coming gigs. www.myspace.com/daisyriots
Hoxton Bar and Grill is a cosy box venue that happily accommodates fair sized crowds. The stage steps invite bands to bowl down and join the punters on the floor, create carnage and engage the audience.
Thomas Tantrum burst up these stairs with some intent, glitter ball dress and all. A slight likening to Madonna it must be said. The beautiful lead singer looking dazzling and bright, just as their music suggests. A fitting outfit in more ways than one.
Launching into their tuneage with some vigour and grand energy. What What What flowed well and with the crowd warming to the happy beats. Even Steve Gigs Legend raising his glass of red at many occasion to give his stamp of approval. The non-stop, non-chatting show bounced easily into Shake It Shake It, my favourite and signature Bows tune, and looking around the room all that could be seen were smiley happy foot tapping air punching grown men! A weird look that I hadn’t expected.
TT is pulling the strings of a wide spectrum of people. I was expecting a slight teeny bopping aspect to the crowd but was badly mistaken. With the cheeky talking style lyrics are a tasty likening to a mix of Bromheads Jacket, Feist and Lily Allen. Thomas Tantrum may not tickle everyone but they will certainly bring a smile to the face and provide the happy vibes to see you through this winter. Spare a minute and appreciate what can only be describe as happiness captured on a record. Right there … www.myspace.com/thomastantrum
